BOM Club Frequently Asked Questions

 

What will I be receiving in the monthly Block of the Month club box?

Every kit will include all the quilting fabrics, paper pieces (if you have chosen an EPP club) and instruction sheets to follow along and create the set number of blocks/section of the quilt top.

 

The club has already started, can I join?

Yes. We accept new members throughout the year or until the spaces are filled. You will not miss previous months kits, the backdated kits will be sent to you upfront.

We will debit your account with for the balance, (the number of kits that are backdated + postage. International customers your balance will be a reduced postage rate = 1 regular postage rate + £3.50 per additional kit). We will then send all backdated kits in one package. Going forward you will receive the kits in the usual timeframe as other club members.

 

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship our BOM boxes all over the globe from Qatar to New Zealand! For customers outside the UK, you will be charged the VAT-free price. Please note, you will be liable for any customs charges or associated fees at your country's border, if at all.

 

How much do you charge for postage? 

We charge the actual shipping rates + a small charge to cover packaging to make it as cost effective for you as possible. Shipping rates as follows, and we have kept our prices the same for the last 3 years!

*In light of Brexit we have updated our shipping to include one EU price, this excludes VAT.

Any taxes, duties etc. owed at your country's border is not the responsibility of Sew & Quilt. 

 

When will I receive my BOM kit?

Your monthly kit will aim to be dispatched by 4 working days from the payment date. Delivery times will vary depending on location. UK club members can expect their box to arrive 3-5 days after the dispatch day, if you think it may be lost please call us and we can provide an update if the package has a 'Delivered' status by Royal Mail, or its still in transit to you.

 

How and when will payment be taken? 

Your card will be charged on the specified payment date each month, (date depending on the club you are joining) if this falls on a weekend we will take the payment on the Friday. Your credit/debit card details are not kept on file (we do not see your card details. The £1 sign-up fee is non-refundable, it is an enrolment fee. Please do not sign-up and checkout using a PayPal account, checkout with your credit/debit card.

 

What delivery service do you use?

We dispatch all BOM kits using Royal Mail. The boxes are 'Large Letter' sized so they will fit through a standard sized letter-box. International customers your BOM kits will be sent using a Tracked service and passed on to your country equivalent local postal service, once it has reached the destination country. 

 

I was in a previous years POTC BOM club, can I join again?

Yes. We would be thrilled to have you join us again. We had a number of people repeat already who wanted to go larger with their quilt top! We are using the same off-white background and Liberty sashing fabric so it will blend seamlessly with your previous quilt.

 

Can you add/change items in my BOM kit? 

Unfortunately we can't, we cannot tailor the kits to your preference. Please make a separate order if you wish to order other items from our shop. 

 

Can I gift an annual subscription? 

Absolutely. Just be sure to enter your own billing details and a different delivery name and address for the recipient.   

 

Can I pay upfront in one payment? 

Yes. We are happy to arrange this. Please email us; info@sewandquilt.co.uk to confirm in writing you would like us to take the payment in full. 

 

Can I cancel my membership?

By signing up to a Block of the Month club you are agreeing to our terms and conditions and agree to take part in the program for the full duration. It is non-cancelable under any circumstances, if you are unsure about the financial commitment please do not sign-up. Please respect we are a small business, fabric orders are based upon subscription numbers and we cannot re-sell your space mid-way through the program. 

 

Can I change my delivery address? 

Yes. Please call us on 01736 362253 or email info@sewandquilt.co.uk and we can update your details.

 

I have new card details, how do I update them?

Please call us on 01736 362253 to update them via phone. Alternatively, please click here, select the correct product option from the drop-down menu and checkout via the website using the new card details. 

 

I miss-cut a piece of fabric in my BOM kit, what can I do?

Each fabric is labelled with the fabric collection name and/or SKU. Use the fabric name and do a search on the website to find and purchase a new piece. If it's not available online, please drop us an email and we can have a look if we have any off-cuts. Please list your full name, BOM club name, BOM club month, fabric name/SKU and quantity you need. 

 

I am missing a piece of fabric from my kit?

In the unfortunate event you are missing a fabric from your kit, please call us on 01736 362253 or email us info@sewandquilt.co.uk and tell us your full name, BOM club name, BOM club month, fabric name/SKU you are missing and we will have the fabric here for you, which will have been an oversight in the packing step. We would like to apologise for your inconvenience and will include it in your next kit. 

We strongly ask you to check your fabrics each month. We cannot help with shortages outside of the club duration. 

 

For the EPP Block of the Month Club:

I'm new to English Paper Piecing, could I do this? 

Difficulty: Confident beginner. Assumes a basic knowledge of the English Paper Piecing technique. (we have a very detailed section on beginner EPP on our English Paper Piecing Guide for further help). Once you have this practised you are good to go! The instructions will be clear, you will be more familiar with cutting and understanding the format after a couple of months and you should speed up with practise. It's a manageable size and we've done the hard work of breaking the pattern down into sections and providing you with the correct strips for you to simply sub-cut. We also have a friendly private Facebook group with 250+ members who post photo's of their BOM quilts from all the clubs and previous years), offer advice and spur each other for motivation each month!

 

Do you offer acrylic cutting templates for the quilt?

Yes, for quilts that use the English Paper Piecing technique. On the BOM club product page please select the option from the drop-down menu next to the Add to cart button. 

Acrylic templates are provided in the matching shape/size to the paper pieces we will be using in the quilt. These are used in conjunction with paper pieces so you can draw around them and cut out your fabrics. The set will be billed in your first months payment.

 

NOTICE:

1. Do NOT checkout using PayPal. You will kindly be asked to re-register with your credit/debit card via the website again. 

2. Please enter a contact telephone number at the checkout.

3. Please make a separate order if you wish to purchase other items online. 

4. Be sure to select the 'Free shipping' option at checkout so you will not be charged postage for signing up today. 

5. Note you will receive an email 'Order Is On It's Way' at some point after checkout. This email is not related to BOM club sign-ups, please follow the dates above for delivery guidance. If you are signing up late, you will be sent in the next months delivery run or we will contact you sooner if your kits are ready.
