Honeycombs
Honeycomb shapes have 6 sides of equal length and interior angles of 45 degree and 90 degree so they tessellate with with squares, octagons and half-square triangles. The 1″ size honeycomb is used in the celebrated Patchwork of the Crosses quilt by Lucy Boston. They are often interchangeably referred to as Hexagons, traditionally known as ‘church windows’ and frequently found in antique English patchworks.
