Quilt Information
The Lone Star quilt is created with a mix of English Paper Piecing and appliqué. The central Lone Star is completed in the EPP style, along with the corner block elements, which are then appliqued into place with added stems and leaves. The swagged border is also created in an appliqué technique, but I will show you another way to prep these large pieces which will save time and come together much more easily than they appear! We will send you full-scale drawings of the applique blocks which you can use for placement. The quilt can then be finished in a knife-edge fashion or bound with binding in the traditional way.

We will offer a matching Aurifil 50wt and 80wt thread set soon.

Quilt Size
The finished quilt top will measure approximately 55-1/2 x 55-1/2" square.
You will create approximately 2 rings of the star each month and an applique block, with the border elements to follow later on in the year.

Fabric used for the Lone Star BOM club
Each month's kit is carefully chosen and curated by Jessie. We will be using a selection of beautiful quilting cottons which suit this more vivid quilt so well, a dash of Liberty Fabric and Kona Solids that will give a wonderful antique feel to the quilt, very much the Sew & Quilt aesthetic that our customers have come to know and love over the years. Fabrics are conveniently pre-cut into strips ready for you to sub-cut as per our instructions.

I spend a lot of time choosing and auditioning fabrics for the club, and over the years of running BOM clubs and making quilts, I've found repetition of fabric prints and styles and using tonal quilting cotton prints to balance out the busy'ness of the Liberty lawns, really makes our quilts extra-special. Given that this is a real showstopping design, solids have been chosen for the large border elements as it keeps the antique style of the quilt and creates cohesion. The fabrics are chosen with great care and attention, and chosen for you.
