The original pattern was designed and pieced by Lucy Boston in 1950. She was famed for her children's book series Green Knowe. In her spare time she created many beautiful patchworks, pieced over papers in the traditional manner. Since her passing in 1990 these patchworks have become legends in their own right.
The finished quilt top will measure approximately 57-1/2" x 86".
We have adapted the original quilt for the 2020 BOM Club by Jessie to feature a 4 x 6 block layout.
We will offer a limited edition 'add-on kit' for subscribers who wish to make their quilt larger. The add on kit provides you with all fabrics and paper pieces to make an additional column to your regular quilt top so it finishes at a 5 x 6 block layout. This will be a separate product to purchase and available to pre-order in Summer 2020.
Fabric used in the Patchwork Of the Crosses BOM club
Each month's kit is carefully chosen and curated by Jessie Fincham. To keep things authentic we will be using a variety of Liberty Tana Lawns just as Lucy Boston used for her original POTC quilt, alongside other beautiful quilting cottons to enhance the overall look, which we conveniently pre-cut into strips ready for you to sub-cut as per our instructions.
We will be using the premium-quality Art Gallery Elements for the off-white background fabric, it has a wonderful feel to it and works perfectly alongside Liberty Tana Lawns - and we've had excellent feedback on it from using it in previous years club. We are also using a lovely Tana Lawn for the sashing.
