Row By Row 2019 Block Of The Month Club

The Row By Row 2019 Block Of The Month. A NEW *exclusive* English Paper Piecing BOM programme designed by Jessie Fincham for Sew and Quilt.

£19.50/Month + Postage

What is a Block Of The Month (BOM) and how does it work?

Once you sign-up below for the 2019 Row-By-Row Quilt BOM, you will be joining our programme starting in January - December 2019. Each month we send you a special box that will feel like you are opening up a lovely gift! It will include fabrics, paper templates and instructions to make your own Row By Row quilt.

How much is the BOM club?

For all UK and EU residents the price is £19.50/month + Postage, for 12 months. For International and European (outside EU zone) the price is £16.25/month (price excludes VAT) + Postage, for 12 months.

What's included in my monthly BOM kit?

FABRIC: Each month's kit is carefully chosen and curated by Jessie Fincham. We will be using a selection of Liberty Tana Lawns and a really pretty selection of quilting cottons that will give a beautiful 'fresh vintage' feel. Each row will be layered onto a subtle neutral background to make the rows shine. Fabrics are conveniently pre-cut into strips ready for you to sub-cut as per our instructions.

PAPER PIECES: Cut and packaged by us in-house, our excellent quality, 100% recycled paper templates will be sent to you in varying amounts each month to make up the set number of blocks. No need to re-use we provide you with enough for the whole quilt top!

WRITTEN INSTRUCTION SHEETS: A monthly instruction sheet which includes fabric swatches for you to match up with your kit. Easy to read cutting instructions, quilt block diagrams and assembly diagrams. We are often praised for our instruction sheets which makes me immensely proud as I pride myself on making them very readable for you. I will also send out a periodic BOM newsletter via email, which includes any extra details that need to be covered.

Tell me more about the Row By Row quilt?

The quilt top will measure approximately 64" x 79". You will be making one row each month so I think it will be a very manageable quilt for the year. Some months are bigger, some are smaller, so you'll be able to work to your pace.

I designed this quilt very late into the year having had another design in my head, which I soon realised didn't work very well as a monthly BOM club. I'm totally indecisive and after scrambling around trying to come up with *the* design I thought why not do them all! And the Row-By-Row quilt was born. Sometimes I just want to make and test only a few English Paper Pieced blocks and not make an entire quilt from one design. If you're like me, then this quilt is for you! Every month you will be making something different and working with new shapes and patterns, what fun! Its fantastic for beginners to the EPP technique and those long-term quilters who want to dip in an out of a project with all complicated pattern designing, fabric choices, maths completed for you! Just enjoy the sewing aspect. ~ Jessie

Do you offer acrylic cutting templates for the quilt?

We do, it uses a lot of shapes (17 different ones RRP £75.35, we are offering a 15% discount to our BOM customers to £64.05, which will be billed on January's payment and included in your first months box at no additional postage cost). Many of you may have some shapes already, some you won't. I wouldn't want you to buy the whole set if you already had some so I will point you in the direction on our website of the size and shape we use each month in our print-out instruction sheet (new shapes used will be released when we get to that month on the quilt). Though please note we can't include extras in the box each month (trust me I'm not being difficult, its just too much as we have to separate your box, label it individually, manually enter your package with a different weight into Royal Mail online plus the additional admin of accounting for the extra piece, contacting you etc).

I'm new to English Paper Piecing, could I do this?

Difficulty: Confident beginner. Assumes a basic knowledge of the English Paper Piecing technique. (I have a very detailed tutorial on my blog if you need guidance). Once you have this practised you are good to go! The instructions will be clear, you will be more familiar with cutting and understanding the format after a couple of months and you should speed up with practise. It's a manageable size and we've done the hard work of breaking the pattern down into sections and providing you with the correct strips for you to simply sub-cut. We also have a friendly private Facebook group with 250+ members who post photo's of their BOM quilts (from other clubs and years), offer advice and spur each other for motivation each month!
