Spinning Stars Quilt Block of the Month. A NEW *exclusive* English Paper Piecing BOM programme designed by Jessie Fincham for Sew and Quilt.

£21.75/Month + Postage

What is a Block Of The Month (BOM) and how does it work?

Once you sign-up below for the 2020 Spinning Stars Quilt BOM, you will be joining our programme starting in January - December 2020. Each month we send you a special box that will feel like you are opening up a lovely gift! It will include fabrics, paper templates and instructions to make your own Spinning Stars quilt.

How much is the BOM club?

For all UK and EU residents the price is £21.75/month + Postage, for 12 months. For International and European (outside EU zone) the price is £18.13/month (price excludes VAT) + Postage, for 12 months.

What's included in my monthly BOM kit?

FABRIC: Each month's kit is carefully chosen and curated by Jessie Fincham. We will be using a selection of lightweight Liberty Tana Lawns and a beautiful selection of quilting cottons that will give a beautiful 'fresh vintage' feel, very much the Sew & Quilt aesthetic that our customers have come to know and love over the years. Fabrics are conveniently pre-cut into strips ready for you to sub-cut as per our instructions.

PAPER PIECES: Cut and packaged in-house by us, our excellent quality paper templates will be sent to you in varying amounts each month to make up the set number of blocks. No need to re-use we provide you with enough for the whole quilt top!

WRITTEN INSTRUCTION SHEETS: A monthly instruction sheet which includes fabric swatches for you to match up with your kit. Easy to read cutting instructions, quilt block diagrams and assembly diagrams. I pride myself on making them very easy-to-understand and follow so each month will be a piece of cake to put together! I will also send out a periodic BOM newsletter via email, which includes any extra details that need to be covered.

Tell me more about the Spinning Stars quilt?

The quilt top will measure approximately 50-1/2" x 79". You will be making approximately 2 or 2-1/2 blocks every month so it's an achievable finish through the year. We have broken down the sections into manageable sized months to complete at your own pace. The pieces are a good size, not too big which can be cumbersome to work with and not too small that you get cross-eyed! The eye-catching design is based on a Seven Sister's quilt block, which I've reworked for our BOM club. It uses 4 main shapes throughout the quilt and just alternating the fabrics gives such a different look to each block! This is a quilt for true EPP fans, as it's purely English Paper Pieced, no appliqué. The sides will be squared off for a straight edge, and the top and bottom will be finished to keep the uneven edge, just like the traditional hexagon quilts were made in the old days.

We have two colour options for you to choose from the drop down menu below.

Option A = 'white'/off-white sashing

Option B = red sashing

We will also offer a limited edition 'add-on kit' for subscribers who wish to make their quilt larger. This would provide you with all fabrics and paper pieces to make an additional colum to your regular sized quilt top, finishing it at a 5 x 7 block layout. This will be a seperate product to purchase, it will be available to pre-order in Summer 2020.

Do you offer acrylic cutting templates for the quilt?

We will be! We will put a special pack together which will include 4 shapes RRP £19.75, we are offering a 10% discount to our BOM customers to £17.75, which will be billed on January's payment and included in your first months box at no additional postage cost). For our sanity this year we will only have shapes available as a discounted set of 4 via the the club to be included in your kit. New shapes will not be available individually on the website until the club is over to keep it fair for our subscribed members.

I'm new to English Paper Piecing, could I do this?

Difficulty: Confident beginner. Assumes a basic knowledge of the English Paper Piecing technique. (I have a very detailed tutorial on my blog if you need guidance). Once you have this practised you are good to go! The instructions will be clear, you will be more familiar with cutting and understanding the format after a couple of months and you should speed up with practise. It's a manageable size and we've done the hard work of breaking the pattern down into sections and providing you with the correct strips for you to simply sub-cut. We also have a friendly private Facebook group with 250+ members who post photo's of their BOM quilts (from other clubs and years), offer advice and spur each other for motivation each month!
