The iconic Jane Austen quilt. A Sew & Quilt exclusive; a meticulous replica design of the original Jane Austen patchwork coverlet thought to be made by Jane Austen herself, alongside her sister Cassandra and their mother in the traditional technique of English Paper Piecing.
A medallion quilt with a large central diamond panel, (the original features a broderie perse appliqued design of birds and a basket of flowers). Surrounded by smaller paper pieced diamonds joined by cream and navy dot sashing and a deep border of smaller sized paper pieced diamonds.

The 5-page pattern includes step-by-step instructions and diagrams to follow as well as fabric cutting instructions and a fabric swatch key with a numbered quilt layout to follow as a guide.
5-1/2 yards ~ 5.25m approx. (large diamonds). For our version, we have used 18 FQ's from the Jane Austen At Home Collection + an additional 4 which are duplicated (22 FQs total).
4-1/2 yards ~ 4.25m, approx. (navy dot on cream sashing)
9 yards ~ 8.25m approx. (borders)
5-1/2 yards ~ 5.25m (backing fabric)
3/4 yard ~ 0.75m (binding fabric) 79” x 97” cotton batting
Please note this is a free pattern we have meticulously recreated from the original patchwork coverlet quilt displayed at the Jane Austen House museum. We have the pattern available online to view and use, and we have provided the option to purchase printed colour copies, for a small charge to cover the cost of printing and packaging labour.
